History and Mission

The history of Beykoz University begins on July 18, 2007, when a group of professionals from the logistics industry and academic researchers founded the TÜRLEV foundation (Türkiye Lojistik Araştırmaları ve Eğitimi Vakfı — the Turkish Foundation for Logistics Research and Education) in the historic Beykoz district on the Asian side of Istanbul. The foundation was established with an ambitious goal — to fill the acute shortage of qualified personnel in Turkey's rapidly growing logistics sector, which holds a strategic position at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. As early as 2008, TÜRLEV opened Beykoz Lojistik Meslek Yüksekokulu — Turkey's first thematic vocational higher school dedicated entirely to logistics and supply chain management. This institution quickly earned a reputation as one of the country's best for training specialists in transportation and logistics, and over its years of operation it has produced more than 2,500 graduates who work successfully today across various sectors of the economy. The school's success and the growing demand for broader academic education led to a historic decision — transformation into a full-fledged university. On September 7, 2016, following publication in the Official Gazette (Resmi Gazete, no. 29824), İstanbul Beykoz Üniversitesi was officially established as a private non-profit (foundation) university. Its structure included four faculties — the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, the Faculty of Art and Design, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture — together with two higher schools: the School of Foreign Languages and the School of Civil Aviation. The university enrolled its first students in the 2017–2018 academic year. Notably, the historic Beykoz Vocational School of Logistics retained its thematic structure under the umbrella of the new university, becoming a living legacy and a symbol of continuity. Today Beykoz University is a dynamically developing multidisciplinary academic center with research centers in logistics, ecology, finance and medical sciences, connecting the academic environment with industry and innovation. The campus in the picturesque Kavacık district, near the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and the main highways, gives students direct access to the commercial ecosystem of Istanbul — Turkey's largest business hub.

Campus Features

Beykoz University's mission is embodied in its motto — 'Learning through Experience' (Deneyim yoluyla öğrenme). The university is convinced that genuine education is born at the intersection of academic theory and real practice, and therefore every element of the learning process is built around the principle of applied learning. Students do not merely study disciplines in classrooms — they complete internships at leading Turkish companies, take part in real business projects, and work in specialized laboratories and media studios equipped to the latest industry standards. Beykoz University sets itself the ambitious goal of nurturing a new generation of professionals capable of critical thinking, of adapting to rapid changes in the global economy, and of creating innovative solutions to complex challenges. Particular attention is paid to developing entrepreneurial thinking: the university supports student startups, organizes hackathons and business incubators, helping young entrepreneurs turn ideas into viable projects. Through participation in the Erasmus+ program, students can study at more than 400 partner universities across Europe, significantly broadening their academic and cultural horizons. The university also actively develops research activity through specialized centers in logistics, ecology, finance and medical sciences, fostering close integration of academic knowledge with the needs of industry. By creating an inclusive and multicultural educational environment — with more than 2,000 international students from around the world — Beykoz University builds a global community in which everyone can realize their potential, develop a professional identity and become a sought-after specialist on the international labor market.
